Science Pictures: The Worlds Longest Insect

The Phobaeticus chani is known to hold the record for the longest living insect in the world. Though recently discovered it has already made it in the world book of records beating the previous record holder Phobaeticus serratipes.  Its longest is said to have a length of 35.7 cm excluding its legs. These weird looking insects are said to thrive in the canopy of the rain forests, which explains why they were so hard to find. What is even more alarming about these insects is the egg they produce. Their eggs have a somewhat tiny wing which they use for gliding from tree to tree.
